Kradal™ Acoustic
Kradal™ Acoustic is the acoustic underlay that reaches the highest rating the system recognises — AAAC 6-Star — beneath a finished vinyl floor, in a slim 10mm profile. Independently tested to L'nT,w 36 and FIIC 74, it delivers maximum sound insulation without heavy floor build-ups or added height.

Key Features
AAAC 6-Star rating — the highest achievable
No layering required - one sheet is enough
L'nT,w 36 (vs 63 for bare concrete)
FIIC 74
27 dB improvement over bare concrete
10mm profile
Bfl-s1 fire classification
6 Star Acoustics
The highest AAAC star rating achievable. L'nT,w of 36 and FIIC of 74 — independently tested by Koikas Acoustics to ISO 16283-2:2020 in February 2025.
Fire Rated Bfl-s1
Classified Bfl-s1 per EN 13501-1:2018. Approved for sleeping and non-sleeping occupancy in both sprinkler and non-sprinkler protected premises.
Floor and Wall
Designed for both beneath finished flooring and behind wall linings. Reduces impact and structure-borne noise.
Wet Area Suitable
Closed-cell construction — non-water absorbing. Can be installed in bathrooms and wet areas beneath appropriate vinyl floor coverings.
Exceeds BCA 2022
Far surpasses the BCA 2022 requirement of L'nT,w ≤ 62 for floors separating sole-occupancy units.
100% Recyclable
Manufactured with 10% renewable content. Antimicrobial and anti-fungal properties. Passive solution with no ongoing maintenance.
A 6-Star AAAC result is the top of the scale — and reaching it usually means building mass and thickness into the floor: dense topping layers, heavyweight assemblies, added height. Kradal™ Acoustic gets there differently. A high-density closed-cell polyurethane foam achieves the full 6-Star rating in a finished vinyl floor system, in just 10mm — so the lightweight, resilient floors specified across aged care, healthcare, multi-residential and hospitality reach maximum acoustic performance without compromise to floor height, stability or design.
If you're specifying vinyl or resilient sheet flooring, this is the highest acoustic insulation you can put beneath it.
Acoustic Testing
Tested by: Koikas Acoustics Pty Ltd
Standard: ISO 16283-2:2020
Rating: AS ISO 717.2-2004
The Kradal Acoustic Underlay achieved L'nT,w of 36, an FIIC of 74, and an AAAC 6-Star rating. This represents a 27 dB improvement over bare concrete (L'nT,w 63) and far exceeds the BCA 2022 minimum requirement of L'nT,w ≤ 62. Lower L'nT,w means better insulation; higher FIIC and AAAC star ratings mean better performance.
Applications
Both products can be installed in the same facility in different areas — for example, Smart Foam in resident rooms and corridors (where falls occur) and Acoustic Underlay in common areas and between tenancies (where noise transfer is the primary concern).
